ONRS Racing Team
Technical Presentation

Since 1996, the ONRS Foundation decided to involve in go-karting competition. Today, it's done! The team was officially created in may 1999 and registered to the Belgian federation. For the novices, let us remeber the few basic rules belonging to the ICC championship: the chassis must be approved by the National Federation, the engine should be a 125 cc monocylinder with gears and the weight of the kart should not exceed 165 kilos.

Part I - The Chassis

Birel Torsion chassis We finally decided to use the Birel Torsion System...
The Birel T Serie was presented in 1997 after two years research. The development of this product was carried out in two directions, both by the research of materials and geometries optimization.
The World Championship FA and FSA will also permit the Italian factory to test all parties of the new structure of the chassis to improve any little detail before the beginning of manufacturing and marketing.

The modular torsion structure allows with little adjustment of the stabilizer to regulate the chassis in such way to obtain the best performance on any track.

The TORSION can be suited to any climatic condition and also to the different tyres mixes used in the various categories; this is possible thanks to intervention simplicity on track.

Birel Logo The bearing structure, integral with the steering spindle connections guarantees resistance and strength.

Part II - The Engine

Briggs & Stratton Wazoom Engine We hesitated a long time between the Raptor III and the Wazoom Engine, but we finally adopted the last one to our chassis because it fits into it better.
The WaZoom engine is an "out-of-the-box, ready-to-race" modified engine built by West Iowa Tool. It was developed in response to the needs of tracks and associations who have expressed an interest in making the process of racing easier.

Our testing of the WaZoom engine indicates peak horsepower in the 13 HP range at 7200 rpm. It has an excellent "bottom end" and pulls hard through-out the entire power band starting at below 4000 rpm. It will outrun superstock class engines and will give some 2-cycles a run for the finish. Briggs & Stratton

Components

Stock components are used where possible. The engine also has an upgrade option of a Horstman rod and a Wiesco piston. An aggressive Bordeaux Dyno Cam is standard. A small diameter, lightweight flywheel is standard. The pre-jetted diaphragm carburetor is equipped with a billet aluminum air horn and intake manifold. Each WaZoom comes with a tuned pipe. All machining, including ports, are CNC'd to ensure that all engines have equal output. The piston rings are lapped and the center ring is a Total Seal gapless style. Further extensive machining has been done to the head and cylinder to raise compression and aid in flame propagation as well as flow characteristics, which equates to increased output. A special head gasket is standard.

Part III - The Tires

Bridgestone Logo
There nothing more to say about the Bridgestone tires which prooved their performance during the past championships. There are commonly used by almost all teams and so we naturally adopted them.

Part IV - The Races

As we subscribed to the federation but not to the ICC championship, we will not take part in all races of our national championship Furthermore, our team had to collect a lot of money to subscribe to the federation so we have no official driver.

Part V - The Circuits

As our budget is very limited we decided to not take part in all races of the championship. FOr now, our test track is located in Bouillon, but we will move soon to Mariembourg.
